PlaceConnect is developed and managed by the Social Infrastructure Strategy team within the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning with the purpose of facilitating conversations and collaboration between those involved in the planning and delivery of social infrastructure in Queensland.
Please contact us if you have any suggestions for other helpful FAQs.
Stakeholders from government, industry and community organisations who plan, invest and deliver social infrastructure. Users are authenticated during the registration process.
There are two collaboration areas within the site:
Join the discussion - Members' area
A place for all social infrastructure professionals across government, industry and community organisations.
Taking action together
This area is specifically for Queensland state government agencies to facilitate cross-agency discussions. Those who are part of this area may also be in the general Members' area.
The answer to that is Yes and No.
1. Yes, you need to register as a site member to interact with other people - you can do that by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking 'Register'.
Registration is limited to stakeholders in the above sectors as well as academia from a relevant discipline. All registration requests are reviewed and authenticated by our team to ensure the right people are in the right place.
2. No, registration isn't necessary if you only want to access the publicly available resources under "What is place-based" and "Toolkit".
While you can freely use any of the publicly available material, to comment or share information with the Community of Practice you need to register as a site member on PlaceConnect.
Once registered, go to the Members' area home page to view the current discussions.
Yes. The Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning will only use your email to share information and update you. Your email address will not be used for any other purpose.
For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
The discussion areas are not viewable by the general public. Only authenticated registered site members are given access to the discussion areas. Approved members are those professionals who are involved in the planning and delivery of social infrastructure. Every member request is authenticated by the PlaceConnect team.
Some discussion areas are for specific groups only and have additional restrictions on access - for example a working group on a particular project.
Moderators will not alter or edit forum comments. Discussion comments will only be removed if they are deemed to be significantly off topic, offensive or malicious as outlined in the Moderation Policy. Users may be notified if their comments are removed and informed of the moderation process.
PlaceConnect admin will be happy to set this up for you. Please contact us to let us know what you need, and who should be granted access to the group, and we'll help you create a suitable area.
PlaceConnect was soft launched in August 2023 and we are progressively spreading the word to our social infrastructure partners, and discovering what the collaborative spaces should look like based on their feedback.
It's a work in progress!
Please check back in regularly to see what's new.
